Shining a light on the impact of pesticides on bees
Professor Dave Goulson’s research into the impact of pesticides on bumblebees has led governments to take action to better protect insects.
The world faces unprecedented challenges to sustain ecosystems and keep its growing population healthy. Bioscience research from the School of Life Sciences at ΒιΆΉΣ³» is playing a crucial role in understanding the underlying mechanisms and researching solutions.
Life Sciences’ research activities are organised around the following five subject groups:
Patients with very rare diseases often feel extremely isolated. Since 2014, two ΒιΆΉΣ³» scientists have been providing a diagnostic service for clinicians and their patients that is giving sufferers and their families help, hope and understanding.
A ΒιΆΉΣ³» researcher is leading the development of Covid-19 forecasting reports which are being used by leading public health organisations.
Dr Chris Sandom, a specialist in rewilding and paleo-ecology, talks about feeding into Government reviews on Rewilding and Ecosystem services and providing evidence to the Environmental Audit Committee.
