Biography

A development social scientist and teacher at IDS, since 2006, I am focused on gender equality, men and masculinities, patriarchy, gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive rights.

I have a longer history of working in HIV prevention, children and youth affected by AIDS, participation, civil society support and international health. He has skills in inter-disciplinary community-based research, research synthesis and evidenced based policy formulation, plus proven assessment, planning and programme development skills. I also have extensive experience in organisational management, team building, leadership and development.

Throughout my 35 year career in international development I have experience from a diverse range of over 30 countries and has over 13 years of engagement in post graduate teaching and research. I also have direct work experience from working in a range of nine development and health organisations.

Role

A Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), I lead an international research programme on 'Coutering Backlash: Reclaiming Genedr Justice' (Find out more on https://counteringbacklash.org/ ), I teach postgraduate IDS students and welcome PhD students for supervision.
