Speaker: Beth Burgess,Brighton Festival, Lesley Wood,The Coast is Queer Festival, Yi Wang,Queer East Festival
Brighton hosts the biggest curated cross-arts festival in England, the Brighton Festival, taking place across the city every Spring. It builds on an incredibly rich arts and cultural scene, rooted in a network of partnerships, organisations and independent artists in an extraordinary architecture and landscape. Executive Producer Beth Burgess will take us behind the scenes to explain what makes it so special, and how to develop a career in the arts sector.
She will be joined by Lesley Wood, Curator and Director of The Coast is Queer, the UK’s biggest and brightest LGBTQIA+ literature festival, and Yi Wang, Director of Queer East, a festival of LGBTQ+ cinema, live arts and moving image from East and Southeast Asia and its diaspora.
Presented as a discussion and interactive workshop, there will be plenty of time for audience questions. As the live arts scene confronts demands for environmentally-sustainable, diverse and inclusive cultural activities, come and celebrate the story and people who are taking festivals forward to reinvent and renew our regional and national creative economy.
Chair: Marina Dekavalla, Convenor of MA in Cultural and Creative Industries
